IGANTZI’S PATRON…
Last weekend, we went to Igantzi, because there were festivals in Igantzi. Igantzi’s patron saint is Saint Michael and here you are Saint Michael’s legend:

According to the legend, in the Gothic time, in Andia’s mountain range, Mr. Teodosio was walking when he met the devil, but he didn’t know it. The devil said to Mr Teodosio:
-Mr Teodosio of Goñi, do you know that your wife is with another man in bed?
Mr Teodosio went back home and he found two shapes in bed. Supposing that there were his wife and her lover’s, Mr Teodosio took his sword and he killed them. But he found out that they were his parents. Mr. Teodosio was very hurt and he went to Pamplona’s bishop:
-I’m very sorry and sad, I didn’t want to do it.-said Teodosio of Goñi.
-Excuse me, but this sin is very very big and I can’t forgive it. You must go to Rome and speak with the Pope.-answered the bishop.
Teodosio went to Rome. He told the Pope his sin and the Pope said:
-Yes, although your sin is very big, I can forgive it, because I’m the Pope and God is with me. But as a penance, you have to carry these chains. when the chains break, you’ll be forgiven.
Teodosio carried the chains during seven years. One day, while Mr. Teodosio was walking near Aralar, a dragon appeared in a path. Teodosio prayed to Saint Michael and he appeared too. The angel wound the dragon in the neck with his sword and the dragon dissapeared. Then, the chains of Teodosio broke and he built Saint Michael’s sanctuary in Aralar.Because of that, you can find in the sanctuary Teodosio of Goñi’s chains and Saint Michael’s statue both, given by de angel. The statue has a peace of Jesus Christ’s Cross.
