Lesaka:
The Carnival is a very old tradition. On the second or on the third week of February, we celebrate the Carnivals in Lesaka. On Thursday, the children ask for eggs and sweets in all the houses wearing the typical Basque costume. They sing a very short song and the people normally open the doors.
On Saturday, the people wear any fancy clothes to go out at night. Most of the young people of Bortziriak come to Lesaka to go partying.
On Sunday, in the morning the “Goitarras” and “Fraindarras” dance and ask for eggs and money in the farms. In the afternoon, “Zako-zaharrak” make a tour and then they tear the old sacks in the square.
On Monday, the people wear different carnival costumes and then they go for lunch.
these are the famous “zakozaharrak”
Bera:
Bera´s carnivals are wonderful. On Sunday there is a tradition, Iñudeak eta Artzaiak. In Iñudeak eta Artzaiak the boys wear girl´s old-fashionned costumes and girls wear farmer boy´s costumes. On Monday everybody goes out asking for eggs and bacon from farm to farm, to prepare a lunch, and at night there´s a big party in the village´s pubs.

After the mass we watched “Herri kirolak” (rural sports), Arantza`s people were taking part in them, women vs men. After three couples took part in the “Aizkora apostua”( bet).
